At Studio Loci, each project begins by understanding what is already present and how the design can respond to it. This starts on site, spending time within the landscape, observing how it feels, moves and changes. We often work directly to pen, allowing ideas to flow instinctively and capture the character of a place.
The following project explores a landscape defined by open meadow, mature woodland edges and long views across the surrounding countryside. Rather than imposing a new structure, the design works with these existing conditions to shape the proposal.
The concept is rooted in the introduction of a new ha ha feature fronting the meadow, helping to reconnect the borrowed landscape and strengthen the relationship between the site and its wider setting. A new courtyard is also introduced, working seamlessly with the building vernacular as a more enclosed, intimate garden space.
The result is a landscape that feels natural, coherent and grounded in its context, shaped through direct observation and intuitive design.
